How we can support you

  • We can contact you in the way you prefer such as by phone or email. Please email heretohelp@guardian1821.co.uk or give us a call at 0808 123 1821 to let us know your communication preference.
  • Provide braille as per your request.
  • You can adjust the font size and the contrast of our webpage using the buttons on the left-hand side.
  • We use captions or transcripts when videos are available.
  • Our documents are in plain English, and we avoid jargon and explain technical terms where we can. Also, with your written or verbal authority, we can speak to one of your trusted friends or family members so they can communicate on your behalf.

MAJOR LIFE EVENTS

How we can support you

Dealing with major life events such as the loss of your loved ones, job loss, domestic abuse, homelessness and relationship breakdowns can be overwhelming. If you’re an existing policyholder, you have free access to Guardian Anytime for medical expertise anytime you need, including GP 24/7, experts for second medical opinions, emotional wellbeing consultations and assessments to help alleviate and prevent general aches and pains. Child Bereavement UK
A charity to give information, training and specialised support to those affected when a baby or child dies. Click here for more information.

Shelter

Financial difficulty or emotional shocks
Financial difficulty

We strongly recommend you to speak to your Financial Adviser. They’re experts and can help you plan for reducing your monthly protection policy premiums to make sure you and your loved ones remain protected. Emotional shocks

If you’re facing any kind of emotional distress, having suicidal thoughts, or needing urgent mental health support, please consult your GP, or reach out to charities such as:

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)
CALM is a leading movement against suicide and you can talk to CALM about anything by calling their helpline on 0800 58 58 58 or using their webchat here. The helpline and webchat are both open from 5pm to midnight, 365 days a year.

MIND
If you’re feeling down and would like to talk to someone, you can call them on 0300 123 3393 or text 86463.

Shout
If you need immediate assistance, you can text SHOUT to 85258 any time of the day and chat through your worries by text message.

How we can support you

  • If you can speak little or no English, we’ll make a note on our system so that when you call, we’ll know you might need extra help or have a translator beside you. We can also send a follow-up email or letter summarising the details of our calls if that’s helpful to you.
  • If you struggle with new technology and digital devices to access our websites and portals, with your verbal or written consent, we can walk through the steps with one of your trusted friends or family members sitting next to you.
  • If you need some support to develop your financial skills and manage your budget, we strongly recommend speaking to your Financial Adviser or checking out our financial difficulty webpage.
